THE PIONEER MODEL

AN EDUCATION FITTING THE 21ST CENTURY

The Pioneer School is a private, non-profit, middle school.  Using a blended learning approach, students’ core classes are led by experienced teachers using The Institute for Excellence in Writing, The Big History Project, Math U See, and the accredited Florida Virtual School (FLVS) curriculums.

In the afternoon, we facilitate rich and varying programs such as conversational Spanish, drama/ FL Jr. Thespians, ‘Brain Hour,’ 4-H, ‘Human Skills,’ Odyssey of the Mind, coding, ASL, public speaking, music, and art.  These dynamic learning experiences tie the students’ core studies to relevant life applications and develop their skills in leadership, citizenship, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, technology, and practical life responsibilities.

We prepare our students for the selective and competitive programs in county high schools, such as IB/AICE, career academies, and arts programs.  At Pioneer, we honor the sensitive period of both physical and social & emotional growth during the adolescent years and use best practices in education to deliver a meaningful, relevant, and deeply experiential learning journey to our students. The success of students at The Pioneer School depends upon a close relationship and communication between school and home.

The Pioneer School is non-sectarian. We expect all students, faculty, and members of the school community to respect the personal beliefs and convictions of others, knowing that they may be very different from their own.
